I saw this meme on BethFishReads, and, now that I’m in the land of tea-drinkers, I couldn’t resist.
Thursday Tea is hosted by Anastasia at Birdbrain(ed) Book Blog , and it’s a weekly meme. To play along, all you need is some tea, a book, and the will to answer some very simple questions: what tea are you drinking (and do you like it)? What book are you reading (and do you like it)? Tell us a little about your tea and your book, and whether or not the two go together.
The tea: I’m on a Tesco’s Finest kick. I know, but hey, it satisfies the craving. It’s a mix of a variety of black teas, and I drink it with a little milk and even less sugar. It just tastes of quintessential “tea” and seems to put up with my not knowing the “proper” way to do anything just fine.
The book: I’m reading two books right now, but the one closest to me on the couch is Christopher Brookmyre’s Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks. It’s great so far, and I’m enjoying my return to Parlabane’s world. I’m looking forward to the mystery and, hopefully, Brookmyre’s normally hilarious sidekicks and villains. I also love that one of the people it is dedicated to is Richard Dawkins. Excellent.
The Assessment: Oh yes, I think my store-brand tea fits right into this story. Although, I imagine that it would be a Scottish brand instead of Tesco’s. And (especially since the book was nominated for a Glenfiddich award) there would probably be more than a bit of a slug of something in it. There’s something unpretentious (if twisty and convoluted) about Brookmyre and his characters, and I know, at least, that they wouldn’t refuse the tea just because it’s neither loose nor fancy.
What are you drinking/reading this Thursday?
